iOrientation: Summer 2024 Arrivals

Review the information below to understand how to complete required iOrientation as a new international student at UC San Diego.

STEP ONE: Complete iTriton Online Training on Canvas
  • This is a mandatory virtual orientation that needs to be completed on Canvas before your arrival. 
STEP TWO: International Orientation Sessions
  • Monday, August 12 at 7pm PT: Meet ISEO & Know the Rules
    • Welcome to UC San Diego! Join the International Services and Engagement Office (ISEO) for an introduction to our office and how we can help serve you during your time here an international student. We will also review some of the important pieces of information you’ve learned in your iTriton Online Training in order to help you maintain your F-1 or J-1 status in the United States.

  • Tuesday, August 13 at 7pm PT: Working in the U.S.
    • Join the International Services and Engagement Office (ISEO) to learn some of basics of on-campus and off-campus employment in the United States as an F-1 or J-1 student. This is an ideal session to attend in preparation for our more in-depth employment workshops offered at ISEO this fall!

  • These sessions are strongly recommended and will be conducted virtually.
STEP THREE: International Welcome Programming
  • ISEO hosts in-person and virtual programming throughout the year. These events are strongly recommended and provide a great opportunity to meet other international students at UC San Diego!
  • Join us for our Global Coffee Hour on Wednesday, August 14 from 8:30-10am!

 

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I required to attend ISEO's Orientation?

In addition to attending your college (for undergraduate students) or Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs and department orientations (for graduate students), ISEO requires all newly admitted international students to complete the iTriton Online Training and attend the mandatory virtual sessions. Attendance at International Student Welcome Programs is highly encouraged. 

Will I meet OTHER newly-admitted international students during ISEO’s Orientation?

YES! During the International Welcome Programming, ISEO will offer a variety of events, intercultural sessions, and programs both in person and virtually that are designed to help you connect with other students! Check them out at our iEvents Calendar

Is there an Orientation for my family members?

When parents and families are informed, students benefit! We encourage parents and families to learn more about resources and support in place for them at the Parent & Family Programs. If you have any questions, please contact parents@ucsd.edu
