Health, Wellness and Recreation Resources
ISEO has compiled a list of the health, wellness and recreation resources available to you while you are at UC San Diego. We are committed to promoting the mental health and well-being of everyone on campus and to creating a community where all of us flourish.
Student Health Services (SHS)
- Student Health Services (SHS): provides quality primary medical care, including urgent care and support services such as laboratory, pharmacy, and x-ray.
- Available: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer
Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS):
- Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS): CAPS provides counseling to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. We meet with students, couples, and groups to help with a variety of problems including depression, anxiety, cross cultural adaptation, homesickness, social and romantic issues, study skills and time management, and other issues. We also provide crisis intervention. We have a large, culturally diverse, multi-disciplinary team. We offer CAPS services in various languages, including Cantonese, English, Farsi, French, Hebrew, Mandarin, and Spanish. Our services are free of charge to students and are confidential.
- Mental Health Services for Students Residing Internationally: At this time, UCSD Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and Student Health Services (SHS) are able to provide ongoing clinical services to registered students located in California only. CAPS has put together a resources page listing options for UC San Diego students residing outside California.
- CAPS has many services available to all registered students regardless of insurance, or whether residing in or outside of California. Go to our resources page and scroll to the bottom of the page to find services for "all students."
Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD)
- The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD): at UC San Diego works with undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students with documented disabilities, reviewing documentation and, through an interactive process with the student, determining reasonable accommodations.
- Available: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer
LGBT Resource Center
- The LGBT Resource Center: is a diverse, open and public space for all members of the university community to explore issues relating to sexual and gender identities, practices and politics. It develops student leadership, builds workplace equity, promotes academic research, and provides resources.
Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC)
- Center for Advocacy, Resources, and Education (CARE) at the Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC): is the UC San Diego confidential advocacy and education office for sexual violence and gender-based violence (dating violence, domestic violence, stalking).
- Available: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer
Women's Center
- The Women's Center: is a space in which people work collaboratively to foster the educational, professional, and personal development of diverse groups of women. The Center provides education and support to all members of UC San Diego regarding gender issues, with the goal of promoting an inclusive and equitable campus community.
Student Veterans Resource Center
- The Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC): is committed to ensuring that military affiliated students successfully make the transition from the military environment to campus life, and are assisted in their progress toward completing their academic degree. In collaboration with other University partners, the SVRC seeks to identify and mitigate the barriers to academic success that are specific to the military affiliated student community.
Athletics and Recreation
- Athletics: UC San Diego sponsors 23 intercollegiate men's and women's sports at the NCAA Division I level. The Tritons compete primarily in California Collegiate Athletic Association, widely regarded as the premiere conference for D-I athletics.
- Recreation: oopportunities abound for every student’s interest and ability level.
- Sports Facilities: works with Athletics, Recreation, student and staff organizations, and the community to maintain and schedule over 100 sports facilities — and to provide support services for special events that improve the quality of life on campus.
The Zone
- The Zone: is a lounge for students that features free programs such as yoga, meditation, Zumba, therapy dogs, and cooking demonstrations to help you achieve your optimal well-being.

Center for Mindfulness
- The Center for Mindfulness: is a multi-faceted program of professional training, education, research and outreach intended to further the practice and integration of mindfulness into all aspects of society.
Center for Ethics and Spirituality
- The Center for Ethics and Spirituality: provides students with secular counseling, discussion, and education programs relating to spiritual, moral, and ethical issues and questions that may arise within the UC San Diego community of students, scholars, workers, and campus affiliates.
Well-Being
- Well-Being at UC San Diego: Feel good, get fit, be safe, and find resources for healthy, balanced living.
iTable Program
- ISEO's iTable program specifically serves the unique needs of our international student population by providing them with immediate food security resources that are otherwise not available via other means.

Health Promotion Services (HPS)
- Health Promotion Services (HPS): Offers 1-1 consultations to students for Stress Management , Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs, Sexual Health, Health Coaching and Nutrition. HPS also offers the Zone, a lounge for students, that features free programs such as yoga, meditation, Zumba, therapy dogs, and cooking demonstrations to help you achieve your optimal well-being.
