The iTable Basic Needs Program is an International Services and Engagement Office (ISEO) program run in partnership with UC San Diego’s The Hub Basic Needs Center, with generous sponsorship from the UC San Diego Basic Needs Committee. This program specifically serves the unique needs of our international student population by providing them with immediate food security resources that are otherwise not available via other means (for example, CalFresh).
Due to the nature of iTable funding, this student service is intended to address short-term, emergency needs, and is not equipped to provide long-term support. iTable applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis and if additional needs are identified, student cases will be elevated to connect with other potential resources to address sustainability concerns.

iTable Application Review Process
Due to the nature of iTable funding, this student service is intended to address short-term, emergency needs, and is not equipped to provide long-term support.
The iTable team reviews each application that is submitted, and we must prioritize certain applications each quarter to ensure equitable access to all.
- Beginning of quarter: iTable application opens and first-time applicants (those who have not applied in that academic year yet) are prioritized to provide equitable access to all. Applications are reviewed daily and e-cards are distributed daily.
- Second week of quarter - end of quarter: iTable team reviews second- and third-time applicants (those who have applied once or twice already and have received iTable services in that academic year).
- Second-time applicants: invitation to speak to a Student Affairs Case Management team member is emailed to allow applicant to learn about additional financial resources on and off campus, and to assess larger sustainability concerns. Funds are only distributed after this meeting.
- Third-time applicants: invitation to elaborate more on recent/continuing financial issues is requested by iTable team to review. These are reviewed on a weekly basis to assess ongoing need and possible support. Funding for third-quarter applicants is not guaranteed due to constraints of iTable funds, and we encourage applicants to consider other forms of support (below).
